About Phil Davidson, MD

Dr. Phil Davidson is one of the country's most sought out orthopedic surgeons for his cutting edge techniques in cartilage restoration and joint resurfacing of the knee and shoulder. His practice goal is to provide the highest quality, specialized orthopedic care for each individual. The treatment rendered by him and his team will be delivered with the utmost in personalized service, with attention to your overall health, well being, and a commitment to restore an active lifestyle for each and every patient. Dr. Phil Davidson treats knee and shoulder injuries of all varieties, with special expertise in sports injuries.

Dr. Phil Davidson has recently relocated to Park City and the Salt Lake City area, from Tampa Bay, Florida where he practiced for 15 years as a widely recognized Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, with a particular interest in Cartilage Restoration and Joint Resurfacing of the knee and shoulder. For more than a decade, Dr. Phil Davidson has been acknowledged as one of the nation's foremost orthopaedists treating articular cartilage disorders. His particular area of clinical interest and academic acclaim is in the field of biologic and anatomic joint resurfacing. Dr. Phil Davidson has beenacknowledged by the orthopaedic community as a surgical innovator and clinical researcher, publishing extensively, and teaching surgeons both nationally and internationally. While in Florida, Dr. Phil Davidson was on the faculty of the University of South Florida and successfully developed a large full service Orthopaedic Clinic. He is an official consultant of Major League Baseball, and The National Football League, having been jointly appointed by the players' and owners' groups from these leagues. He was recently appointed to a committee of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to evaluate the safety of treatments being rendered for Osteoarthritis.

He received his BA with High Honors from Harvard College and received his MD degree with Honors in Research from Cornell University Medical College. He did his Orthopaedic Residency training at Baylor College of Medicine, and Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles.

Dr. Phil Davidson has joined together with Drs. Eric and Karen Heiden at Heiden Orthopaedics .He sees patients and performs surgery both in Salt Lake City and in Park City. He is on the staff of Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, LDS Hospital, South Towne Surgery Center, Park City Surgical Center, Park City Medical Center, and Heber Valley Medical Center. Currently, Dr. Phil Davidson accepts most major insurances.

Dr. Phil Davidson treats athletes of all sorts, to include: youth, high school, collegiate, and professional. He has a particular interest in providing cutting edge surgical options to recreational and competitive adult athletes interested in maintaining an active lifestyle despite knee or shoulder injuries. Outside of medicine, Dr. Phil Davidson enjoys a variety of outdoor sports, fitness and keeping up with his three sons. He and his wife Ruth reside in Park City.

Raul Rios PA-C, ATC

Raul is a Certified Physician Assistant and Clinical Research Coordinator, working directly with Dr. Phil Davidson. He is involved in all aspects of surgical and clinical care, and is integrally involved in patient care from initial visit, through surgery and recovery. He is the coordinator of clinical research, including FDA trials. In addition, he is a clinical preceptor for physician assistant students, and has a special interest in teaching.

Raul is originally from California. He lived in Idaho for many years, where he attended Boise State University earning his B.S. in athletic training/sports medicine. He practiced as an athletic trainer (ATC) for 4 years as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Boise Burn arena football team. He graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program, with a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS). He was honored to receive the Castle Scholarship "For outstanding clinical performance". 

Raul holds certifications/licenses as:

• American Council on Exercise Certified Personal Trainer (ACE C-PT)
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
• National Athletic Trainers Board Certified Athletic Trainer (NATABOC ATC)
• Certified by the National Commission of Physician Assistants (PA-C) and licensed.

Outside of practicing as a PA-C, ATC, Raul enjoys leading a healthy and active lifestyle, making exercise a part of his daily routine. He enjoys snowboarding, motorcycles, is a car enthusiast, enjoys watching his Lakers, Boise State Broncos, is an overall sports fan and enjoys spending as much time with friends and family as he can.

Jennifer Meyer, Scheduling & Clinical Coordinator

Jennifer Meyer is the scheduling coordinator for Dr. Phil Davidson. She is available to facilitate scheduling surgery, arranging appointments, assisting with the logistics of visiting patients, coordinating testing, and all the services associated with pre and post operative care. Jennifer communicates regularly with surgical patients and together with Dr. Phil Davidson, coordinates all aspects of their surgical experience. Jennifer began working in the medical field over 15 years ago and is proud to now be with Heiden Davidson Orthopedics. She enjoys helping others and the challenges and rewards that go along with her job. Jennifer was born and raised in Utah. After living in other states, she and her husband, Scott, decided that Utah is where they belong. They now reside in the beautiful mountains of Park City. Jennifer enjoys running with her two dogs and staying active.
